Digital Natives? Digital Savages!

In many public discussions or news-reports related to "how to deal with the new technology?", there is a term which seems to be appearing more and more often:
Digital Natives
Well, the term already has a Wikipedia article, but what's confusing me is that it's so unreflectedly used as a positive term.
Looking at the current state of the art though, I'd rather suggest to refer to them as Digital Savages.
Think about it:
Just because someone grew up in a forest with animals, and can make fire (and is not afraid of it) - and survive it - does not at all mean that they have any clue what they are doing or how these things actually work.
