Debian/Ubuntu: Enable disable startup scripts (init.d)

Post by ^rooker »

I'm pretty sure I've written this down already in the past, but I can't find it - and I always forget which commands provide a "GUI" (text-based ;)) for viewing/enabling/disabling which startup-scripts (from /etc/init.d) are started/stopped in which runlevel. This information applies more to the "old" (SystemV) way of things rather than the "new" systemctl-way of doing it.

Debian:
  • update-rc.d
  • rcconf
  • sysv-rc-conf
Will (hopefully) add more details to this.
For now it just helps me re-find these commands next time ;)
Jumping out of an airplane is not a basic instinct. Neither is breathing underwater. But put the two together and you're traveling through space!
