Konqueror as SVN client

Post by ^rooker »

[PROBLEM]
Spoiled by tortoise SVN's explorer integration, I wanted to have something similar in KDE. Luckily, there is a plugin for konqueror - the package is called "kdesdk-kio-plugins".

It's quite nice, but it changes the right-mouse-click context menu, which sometimes interferes with making some default file-related operations.

[SOLUTION]
Here's my current solution to this inconvenience problem:
1) Create a new Konqueror viewing profile:
- Under "Settings > Configure View Profiles", enter a new name and click "save".

2) Go to a directory under SVN control.

3) Select split view: "View > Split View > Split View Left/Right"

4) Choose "SVN client" for the left side, and "detailed list view" for the right side.

5) Link the 2 views by clicking into the empty rectangle in the lower right corner. A small chain icon should appear. Now the left and right view will always display the same folder.

6) Save your profile: "Settings > Save View Profile 'xxx'"
Jumping out of an airplane is not a basic instinct. Neither is breathing underwater. But put the two together and you're traveling through space!
