[PROBLEM]
I've installed a VfW (Video for Windows) codec, but it won't show up in VirtualDub's codec list (Video > Compression). On another system however, the codec *did* show up. hm...
[SOLUTION]
The codec package was 32bit, but the operating system as well as VirtualDub were 64bit. The 32bit codec shows up in a 32bit VirtualDub build, but not in the same version with 64bit (AMD64 builds).
In order to verify this behavior, I've openend a 32bit and a 64bit VirtualDub version in parallel on the same computer (64bit operating system) - and you could see that other codecs also only showed up under 32bit VirtualDub.
