Xubuntu Oneiric: Otherimage viewer than Ristretto: GPicView!

Post by ^rooker »

By default, Current Xubuntu (Oneiric) ships with an ancient, broken version of "Ristretto" as image viewer (v0.0.93ubuntu1). Unfortunately, Ristretto is missing a feature I absolutely need:
If you have a folder with images (default case, with pictures on a digital camera), you click on one - and then use the image viewer to navigate back and forth through the other pics, too.

Well, not with Ristretto v0.0.93. I haven't figured out how to move to the next/previous image.

Additionally, Ristretto crashed so many times on the first day I've used it, that I thought: "There has to be something else!". I didn't want to use Gwenview, as it's kinda overkill for my needs. I like XFCE's small-but-sexy attitude, so I wanted an image viewer that fits in there.

And the winner is: "GPicView"

Since the screenshots of Ristretto's current version (0.3) look like it now *has* a possibility to navigate between images, maybe this post will be obsolete soon :)
Jumping out of an airplane is not a basic instinct. Neither is breathing underwater. But put the two together and you're traveling through space!
