Nokia 3100

Post by ^rooker »

After more than 7 years of service, my Nokia 3100 now refuses to find any network at all anymore... *sigh*

I don't want to give up on this great piece of phone (Yes, Nokia did make good, reliable phones back then), and stumbled over a great collection of 3100 series service manuals and solution-documentation-collections:

While I'm at it, I'd like to share with you a great masterpiece of cellphone-repair(wo)men interchanging professional vocabulary and terms:

On gsmhosting.com, there's a thread about fixing the network communication of a 3100

Reading this sounds a bit like CB-radio of truckers :)

Here's an excerpt:
<KHALIFA>: "man r u new to hardware.... coz with 398 posts u shouldnt b asking these silly questions............ any ways.... mjolner is hagar.....no u cant u 6610,7250, helga..... models in which u ill find mjolner n P.A. r .... 3650/60, 6600,3100/20,1100,2300,2600,ngage QD,6100.
90% pa n antena swicth r not the faulty part.... its always from mjolner(hagar) or uem.
here is step by step procesure..
1) reball or change mjolner
2) reball cpu
3) reball uem
4) change filters..
this is my way of repairing 3100 network... works for me all the time
try n post results"
...continued:
<HUM>: "mr.khalifa,u r very smart,i know my post numbers,i know this ic as hager, with 398 posts it never means that i m new in hardware,no one is 100%."
<HUM>: "plz check picture on the previous page,in which i marked problem?"
<KHALIFA>: "brother i saw ur pic ....but there is nothing to do with that tracks... remmember 3100 never looses its track until its water locked..... as i said before PA n antina switch in 3100 r 90% ok.... one more thing did u change the 26mhz crystal.... its a very important part of 3100 network..............
i know man no one is 100%:)"
<TopLink Gsm>: "plz light heat uem may be yours problem is slove"
<KHALIFA>: "plz light heat uem may be yours problem is slovenew comers r recommended to read the above matter carefully than post"
Pure poetry.
