After having installed the Oracle 9i windows client, I set up the entry in tnsnames.ora (and check with Net8 Configuration Assistant said: "Test Successful"), but when I started my application, got something like:
"Provider cannot be found, it may not be properly installed"
[SOLUTION]
(Re)Install the Oracle client software WITH "Oracle Windows Interfaces" selected.
...nope. that's not selected by default.
