MEncoder: Extract audio from video

[PROBLEM]
I wanted to extract only the audio track from a video into an audiofile.
Since the video was split into 1-minute segments, I had to use mplayer or mencoder - as FFmpeg did not reliably glue all audio samples together in my tests.
[SOLUTION]
Using mplayer takes extremely long, as it seems it tries to export it in realtime while playing it back (even with -vo null).
So, thanks to a post by the user "wasp" in the Knowledge.Drun.NET forums, here's how to extract the raw audio stream (PCM encoded) of segmented videos, using mencoder:
