Debian7: Not enough information: "dev" argument is required.

[PROBLEM]
Adding an additional IP to a network interface on Debian 7.
Business as usual, but in this case I got the following error message when trying to "ifup" the alias:
I had a comment next to an address line.
This doesn't work anymore. The comment had to be removed in order to work.
