[SOLUTION]
I wasn't able to figure out who generates the files in
/etc/avahi/services, or where they are installed from. They just seem to "appear" - but there's no information found on the Internet that would explain which process created them.
Mysterical...
Anyways, I was able to recover existing .service files from an older installation of raspbian (wheezy).
I simply copied them over to the "
/etc/avahi/services" folder and restarted the avahi-daemon:
Below are some example .service files from my setup:
cups.service:
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" standalone='no'?><!--*-nxml-*-->
<!DOCTYPE service-group SYSTEM "avahi-service.dtd">
<service-group>

<service>
<type>_http._tcp</type>
<port>631</port>
<txt-record>path=/printers/HP_LaserJet_P1102w</txt-record>
</service>
</service-group>
