update-initramfs: "cannot open /dev/md/0"

Post by ^rooker »

Copying an existing disk-image (with several partitions in it) using "dd" to install a preconfigured Debian 6 onto a Linux SoftRAID mirror (mdadm RAID1).
Works perfectly fine when doing it on a single disk, but GRUB2 fails to boot with "error: unknown disk"

Here's what I've tried:

Code: Select all

$ update-initramfs -u
Returns the following error:
mdadm: cannot open /dev/md/0: No such file or directory
This somewhat makes sense, because the RAID registered itself as "/dev/md127" - so "/dev/md/0" doesn't exist.

To be continued...
