Ubuntu / ATI driver problems X11

[Problem]
After installing Ubuntu, and then installing the ATI drivers with synapse, the X-server does not restart anymore. All you get is some flickering and a black screen, and you have to reset the box.
[Solution]
Reboot in safe mode (shell), and check your /etc/X11/ directory. In there, you will find a xorg.conf.originial-n file (where n can be any number, the higher, the more changes were made to the settings). Copy the last working xorg.conf.original-n file to xorg.conf and reboot. Should work again
