[Problem]
You installed some software - most likely it had to do with CDR's or DVDs (Burner, Ripper, Emulator...) and on the next reboot, BLAM! BSOD in the modue 'CDR4_2k.sys'. In safe mode, suddenly your CD/DVD Drive does not work anymore - if you now delete the .sys, the box will boot normally again, but your drive is still broken Getting windows to reinstall the drivers does not help at all.
[Solution]
This is a driver used by Adaptec/Roxio and several other CD/DVD Software thingies. Sometimes, its actually a virus, but not in this case. After browsing the internet for ages, this is what i found out how to fix this, or possibly fix this:
1. Download this file, execute it after you booted in safe mode, and then boot normal again:
labs.divx.com/files/support/SonicRollback.exe
2.
If you have, reinstall your Roxio/Nero/Adaptec software (A CDR Program or whatever). Usually it also contains the driver.
Thanks to the guys of the DIVX board, where i finally found a solution after browsing the web for almost an hour and screaming at my cat because i was so pissed off
BSOD because of 'CDR4_2k.sys' or 'CDR4_xp.sys'
BSOD - WTF?
For everyone like me who read "BSOD" - what the f***?
I guess Gil meant the famous "blue screen of death".
