wmv: "Cannot find codec for audio format 0xA."

Post by ^rooker »

[PROBLEM]
Someone gave me a recording of a video in a .wmv file. I tried opening under Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 with VLC or mplayer, but there was no sound.
mplayer said:
Cannot find codec for audio format 0xA.
*sigh*... What did I expect?

[SOLUTION]
I've had to install the "w32codecs" package from the Medibuntu repository. Afterwards I could play it with mplayer.

Jumping out of an airplane is not a basic instinct. Neither is breathing underwater. But put the two together and you're traveling through space!
