- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips (ca. 1 cup)
- 1 1/2 cups chopped nuts (optional)
Procedure:
In a mixing bowl, beat shortening and butter with mixer (medium to high speed) for ca. 30 seconds.
Add sugars (white/brown) and baking soda.
Beat mixture until combined.
Mix in as much of the flour as possible with the mixer, then stir in the rest of the flour manually.
Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
Bake in oven at 190°C for 8-10 minutes.
Makes about 60 cookies.
