Inkscape copy/paste issue

[PROBLEM]
On Xubuntu 16.04 and Inkscape v0.91/r13725, hitting "Ctrl+C" in Inkscape returns the following error:

An additional dialogue pops up right after:
This extension requires at least one non empty layer.

[SOLUTION]
